I always think of you and your love of Esther Williams every time I go swimming, and especially when I wear my pink halter swimsuit. I also think of you every time I use black eyeliner and white eye shadow ala Marilyn. Your nerdy childhood has totally influenced my nerdy adulthood.

I bet it is physically impossible to make Haley Mills look "sexy".

Cletis: I'm jealous of your halter. I have Esther William's swimsuit page bookmarked, but they are just so darn expensive! I did have one in 10th grade though and I will never forget it.

Suzie: I agree. I admit I thought Hayley looked a little out of place with the other ladies, but I DID think I was Hayley Mills as a child. She had too huge of an impact on me to be left off...

Although The Parent Trap and Summer Magic are two of my very faves, I can’t help but think of Hayley Mills as Miss Bliss. All those episodes of Saved by the Bell are just pounded into me.

That said, I LOVE Katharine Hepburn. Definitely in my top 5 of Hollywood idols. She had the best voice/accent ever. And I could watch The Philadelphia Story over and over again.

When I think of Rita Hayworth I think of that scene in The Shawshank Redemption: “Are you decent?” (hair flip) “Me?”

Actually, I guess when HM was on it was pre-Saved by the Bell, when it used to be called “Good Morning, Miss Bliss.”

Lizer: oh yeah, i def am not a Miss Bliss fan--hello frizzy lady.

I'm glad you love Summer Magic too. Don't you think Tom Hamilton looks like JFK, Jr? And I could probably recite The Parent Trap from memory.

When I think of Rita Hayworth now, it is the White Stripes' "All That I Needed" that takes over. Funny song, it makes me laugh.

Emily: I don't know that song! I will have to check it out.

Suzie, for your info, Haley Mills was hot in the parent trap!!!
Like Lizer, I too have to much contection to Miss Bliss, who was not hot.
I still vote Rita,

Marcy, did you get my email? I need the lowdown on NASCAR and songs that are about NASCAR. Are there any?

Emily: I didn't get your email. Try again and I can look for it, I get a lot of junk from my ward listserve so I may have accidentally deleted it.

In the meantime, here's what I've got:

Richard Petty Fans by Alabama
The Crowd Goes Wild by Mark Wills
I Love NASCAR by Cledus Judd (this one is actually just a spoof of I Love This Bar by Toby Keith--Weird Al style)
She Don't Love Me More than NASCAR - Grandstaff
Rev it Up - Blessed Union of Souls

Also there is an Alan Jackson song where he is driving a NASCAR racecar in the video but the song has nothing to do with NASCAR---I'll try and remember which video it is if that is helpful.

Also there are some NASCAR cds out there...most of them don't necessarily have songs exactly about NASCAR but driving fast, etc....(Born to Be Wild, songs like that) Hope that helps! :) What ARE you doing anyway?

Wow. You're a regular fountain of info. Thanks for all that. My husband, who has never watched a NASCAR race in his life but who is a really talented songwriter was thinking there might be some golden opportunity to write a sort of anthem for NASCAR, like Garth Brooks' Rodeo is to the, well, rodeo. Looks like that market has been tapped. Thanks!

Emily: Having heard the songs above, I think there is still room for a NASCAR theme/anthem.

"Six-Pack Summer" by Phil Vassar is sort of Nascar-ish, isn't it? "The pace car's pacing...now the green flag's waving."

I guess the whole song isn't about car racing, though. Just that line.

Excellent. We'll go ahead. Don't have any country music producer connections in Tennessee, do you?

Emily: I wish I did, sorry. :(

I love you. And that's all I have to say on this matter.
